The munchkin turns 1!!

Last Thursday my munchkin nephew Charlie turned 1 year old. Saturday was his 1st Birthday Part and was held at my Mum & Dad's place. As Kate pointed out he must have some friends in high places as it rained on Friday and Sunday but not on Saturday for his party.

It was a "Spots & Stripes" party and everyone was asked to wear clothes matching the theme. It was quite sunny and Bee had some spot stickers stuck to her arms and legs and, post some sunburn, has spot shaped pieces of unburnt skin on her arms. Just quietly I think it's pretty funny, albeit not very noticeable.

There were quite a few kids running around having fun as well as a bunch of more elderly ppl. I think a good day was had by all and the little munchkin cleaned up in the present stakes!

Bee & I took a bunch of photos from the day and I've uploaded my selection of the best. Can only imagine how much video and photo footage Mum & Dad have though!

Cheers Cheers the Old Red & Black!!!

VICTORY FOR THE DEVILS!!! After a couple of spankings and much improvement over the last two games we (Yeronga Devils 3rds) won our first game of the season tonight. Let me tell you that song was sung with gusto... I am reliably told it was heard quite clearly from about half a field away!

GO DEVILS!! :) :) :) :)

Dreams do come true

So in order to, temporarily, escape my overwhelming desire to choke a workmate I have decided to post a happy story. For those of you who doubted the old cliche I can tell you it's true, yes dreams really do come true.

What am I babbling about? Well as always a picture tells a thousand words...

Yes I got to meet Brownie. Dunc got me invited to a "Sportsmans Grill" night where the guest of honour was Brownie. Was a good night listening to Brownie being candid and honest, and as someone said to him after maybe a little too honest, about a number of issues.

After dinner and his on stage work was done we walked over to Brownie, got an autograph or two and had a bit of a chat. I'm pleased to report that Brownie is a genuinely nice and likeable guy.

He had a good laugh when I told him that I had been charged and fined by my footy club for impersonating him around the club. He laughed harder when I told him I was told to wear a long sleeve jersey when doing it as I didn't have the guns to pull it off.

It was a very good night and I'm even more of a fan of Brownie now than I ever was. Which is just plain scary for those of you who know me!

Donkey Kong

As Ben stated in his comment, it is indeed on like Donkey Kong!! This week is the yearly clash that stops the Dream Team nation. Muurgh's Allstars vs Sgt. Jorge's Band. An imposing win/loss record for the Band means nothing this year and despite Ben thinking it's propaganda I believe he has a better team than me this year...

... well he did until I improved my team last night. But what trades did I make? Did I stick with my plan to just net some $$$ this week for future trades? Or did I go out and spend a few $$$ on a couple of higher scoring players?

Only time, or much arm twisting, will tell. One thing is for sure though... it's game on moles!

Doing a Hodgie

So swimming last night wasn't easy, in fact it was quite tough. I lost track of the times I was standing there just trying to catch my breath. Nor did I think it was possible for my body to tell me it couldn't swim anymore when I wanted it to.

Anyway wore my footy short swimming as I figured my knee length boardies would only get in the way. Before I left for home I changed into my boardies and noticed they were looser than they used to be. After showing this to Bee & Brett upon arriving home Brett asked what I think we'll all admit is the obvious question.... "Going to do a Hodgie?"

I, of course, couldn't say no so up the shorts went. Got the waistband right up to my chest when Brett pointed out they were still baggy... so I shoved both my arms down and stuck my hands out the bottom.

Why am I telling you all this? Well it's an indication that some weight, and specifically centimetres, are being lost from various parts of my body. If I can get my legs and my arms into the same pair of boardies something has certainly changed!

Lack of sleep hangover

I've noticed it in other examples during my life but isn't it strange how you always feel more tired a couple of days after a lack of sleep more so than the day after? I work up @ 6am, early for me, this morning and felt reasonably ok. Right now however I feel like a nap.

Might have something to do with me having been at work for 1 & 1/4 hours already and being bored shitless... but it also has a lot to do with my lack of sleep hangover. It's hit me.

Am glad training tonight is supposedly a lighter session. We're heading to the local swimming pool for it too so that'll be a first... and as always with firsts at footy training, no doubt not what I expected.

We'll see how it goes. At the moment my mind is buzzing, albeit not as much as yesterday afternoon and last night, with possible Dream Team trades. I am going nuts... got a big game this week against Ben. It's been a classic encounter for many years with some bitter rivalry existing. I don't think I've ever lost to him, but at the moment his team is stronger than mine... could my trades make the difference? Probably not as they will mainly be putting me in a position to do future trades (read: netting me some spare cash) rather than immediately improving my team.

Again, we'll see how it goes... have a good Tuesday everyone!
